Family Service Worker
Community Action Council of Howard County Maryland's Head Start Program has an opening for an experienced Family Service Worker. Position is responsible for establishing community partnerships, recruitment and enrollment, parent involvement and case management. Bachelor's Degree in human service field or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of Head Start program. Substitute Bus Driver
Driver must possess a CDL with "S" Endorsement. All candidates must submit a completed physical and Criminal Background Check. Weatherization Program Manager
Community Action Council of Howard County, Maryland is seeking a full-time Weatherization Program Manager to administer its Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and Energy Assistance program grants that provide energy saving services to the low-income population of Howard County. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that client eligibility, program execution and reporting requirements meet the granting agency’s expectations and schedules.
Other responsibilities include:
Hire, train and supervise support staff for the program;
Effectively identify, select, establish and manage contractual relations with suitable qualified contractors;
Prepare suitable reports for agency management and other stakeholders;
Engage clients in energy-saving lifestyles. Conduct outreach programs seeking clients with the highest need and largest energy consumption.
The position will also:
Pursue additional funding opportunities to grow the program;
Continuously seek to improve the work processes for the lowest administrative cost, shortest time cycle for work completion at the work site and achieve error free and highest quality work from contractors;
Identify the areas of technical and organizational competence that would enable long-term program sustainability within the agency. Develop a suitable plan, seek management approval and support and execute the plan.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a weatherization, home improvement or home construction business background.
Successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and demonstrated supervisory experience. Preferred candidates will possess an Associate’s degree, a minimum of three years of construction industry experience and a familiarity with Howard County building and HVAC code requirements. The candidate must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and be willing and able to become qualified to perform weatherization audits and QC functions of the program.
