As it gets colder, October is an important month for Maryland families living in homes and paying too much for utilities. It’s Energy Awareness Month. Plus, Weatherization Day is coming up on October 30!

At CAC, we’re using this month to help families “Turn the Heat On” safely, affordably, and efficiently. This is a good opportunity to learn how no-cost energy upgrades to your home can make a big difference for your comfort, your budget, and your health.

What Is Energy Awareness Month?

Energy Awareness Month helps families learn how to save energy and lower utility bills. It also recognizes the programs and people who make that possible, like CAC’s Weatherization Assistance.

On Weatherization Day, we celebrate the success of CAC’s no-cost weatherization programs, as well as others across Maryland and the country. Together, we’re helping families live in homes that are more comfortable, affordable, and healthier.

How Weatherization Services Benefit Maryland Families

Last year, CAC upgraded 650 Maryland homes with weatherization assistance! That’s hundreds and hundreds of local families with cozier homes and lower heating and cooling bills, at no cost to them.

No-cost weatherization from CAC is available for income-qualified households throughout Maryland. Applying is simple, so follow the steps below:

The process is simple:

• Start Your Application Online
  • Start by filling out the online intake form below. It only takes a few minutes and asks for basic information about you and your home. In many cases, this is all we need, but in some cases, we’ll ask you to fill out a full application.
• Schedule an Energy Assessment
  • A trained CAC staff member will visit your home to find out which upgrades are needed most to improve comfort, safety, and savings.
• Your Home is Weatherized
  • We work with trusted, local contractors to complete the upgrades, which can include insulation and air sealing, furnace and hot water heater repair or replacement, and more.
• CAC Performs a Quality Control Inspection
  • Once the work is complete, we’ll come back to make sure everything was done right and that you’re feeling the difference in your home.
