Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) in partnership with the United Way of Central Maryland is now accepting applications for the Family Stability Program in Columbia, Maryland.

The Family Stability Program serves families with children who live in target areas. The program utilizes a strengths-based comprehensive multigenerational approach to empowering and restoring individuals, families, and households, with unique needs and priorities, to self-sufficiency through collaborative coaching and financial wellness tools.

Program Goals:

  • Help families experiencing housing instability.
  • Support families so that their children remain in their school of origin.
  • Provide families with tools to maintain self-sufficiency.

Program Services:

  • Family Coaching:One-on-One meetings with a Family Stability Coach to assess the family’s strengths, set and achieve family goals, and connect them to additional, supportive community resources.
  • Financial Assistance:Financial assistance is determined by individual family needs and based upon available funding.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • At risk of losing permanent housing due to rental and/or utility arrears.
  • At least one child under the age of 17 living in the home.
  • Willing to participate in Family Coaching and meet program responsibilities for up to 12 months.
  • Families must live in Columbia, MD in the following zip codes: 21044, 21045, and 21046.
