Early Childhood Education

Do you need help finding no-cost, quality early childhood education? CAC offers full-day, full-year programming to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond.

Energy Assistance

Do you need help with energy bills? CAC offers no-cost support to help families keep up with monthly utility bills.

Food Assistance

Do you need help putting food on your table? CAC offers no-cost shopping for you to select fresh, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods.

Housing Assistance

Do you need help with housing costs? CAC offers no-cost support to help families stay in their homes.

Weatherization Assistance

Do you need help improving the energy efficiency of your home? CAC offers no-cost help to improve the comfort of your home environment and lower monthly energy bills.

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), is Howard County’s designated anti-poverty organization for nearly 60 years. CAC is one of our nation’s 1,000+ Community Action Agencies (CAAs) dedicated to fighting poverty by helping people become economically self-sufficient. We are a dynamic organization that utilizes the Two-Generation (2Gen) approach to integrate our five core services of Early Childhood Education, Energy Assistance, Food Assistance, Housing Assistance, and Weatherization Assistance to create a holistic approach to empower families on their path to social and economic stability.

For nearly 60 years, CAC has relied on upon the generosity of the community to meet the needs of the people it serves here in Howard County.
