The Community Action Council of Howard County is excited to partner with Ampion to bring a new program to our clients and the local community. Residents can now save on electric bills through the Maryland Community Solar program at no cost. 

This program is part of CAC’s broader Weatherization Services, which help families lower energy bills, stay comfortable, and make their homes healthier and safer.

About the Maryland Community Solar Program:

  • Community Solar helps you save money on your electric bill.
  • It's renter-friendly and available to all. There are no rooftop panels needed.
  • We give you a share of a local solar farm.
  • When the farm is ready, you save up to 20% on your electric bills!
  • Clean energy from your share shows up as a credit on your bill.
  • Compatible with other energy savings programs, like MEAP, the Maryland Energy Assistance Program.

How it Works:

Community solar allows you to benefit from a nearby solar farm without installing panels or paying anything to participate. As the solar farm produces electricity, the power goes to a power grid, then you receive credits on your monthly utility bill.
