What to Expect Next

1. HOW SOON DO YOU NEED HELP?

If your eviction or move-in date is less than 3 business days from today we are unfortunately unable to help you.

Please check back in the future to see if new funding sources have become available.

2. COMPLETE HOUSING ASSISTANCE APPLICATION

Fill out the application on the CAC website at
cac-hc.org/housing-assistance

3. AFTER SUBMITTING APPLICATION

EVICTION - A copy of your court-signed Eviction Notice (Petition for Warrant of Restitution) with scheduled eviction date.

If your eviction or move in date is more than 3 business days from today, you must provide the following documentation to clientassistance@cac-hc.org immediately.

MOVE-IN - A copy of your pre-lease/welcome letter.

4. ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

You will receive an email and a letter in the mail requesting needed documentation within 21 days.

Your case will be completed 28 days after receiving all required documents.

Documents can be provided to CAC by either method below.

Please be aware that additional documentation may be requested depending on your case.

6. DECISION AND NOTIFICATION

You will receieve a notification within 3 days of a decision.

If you are approved, it will take up to 3 weeks for your landlord to receive payment in the form of a bank check.

If you were denied, you may reapply for housing assistance 30 days from the date of your denial letter.

A commitment letter of payment can be provided to your landlord within 24 hours of your approval.

7. DO NOT CALL

Unless you are notifying us of an eviction date, supported with a document, please refrain from calling to check on case status as it slows down processing time.

Due to very limited funds, new Rental Assistance, Eviction Prevention, and First Month Rent cases will only be opened when you meet all of the specified program requirements.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE

A completed CAC Universal Application (download here or pick up at our office).
A completed CAC Supplemental Housing Packet (download here or pick up at our office).
Copies of documents that show Proof of Income for the past 30 days of anyone, 18 years or older, living in your home.

RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND EVICTION PREVENTION APPLICANTS MUST ALSO PROVIDE

A copy of your court judgement and/or eviction document.
A copy of a document from the court starting the eviction process.
Proof you do not NOT owe more than $2000 of back-rent.
Proof you are NOT be more than 2 months behind in rent.

FIRST MONTH’S RENT APPLICANTS MUST ALSO PROVIDE

A copy of your Welcome Letter or Pre-Lease from your landlord.

Note, we are NOT able to assist with a security deposit.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ALL HOUSING ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS

All specific program documentation requested must emailed to clientassistance@cac-hc.org or physically delivered to our office at 9820 Patuxent Woods Drive, Columbia, MD 21046.
No case will be created until all of the documentation is received and verified by CAC.
Partially completed packets will not be accepted or processed.
Additional requests for information and documents will follow to confirm your eligibility.
