When a Weatherization staff member contacts you, be sure to let them know if your household is already receiving services from any of the following: OHEP Utility Bill Pay Assistance, Housing Choice Vouchers (HUD), Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Maryland Fuel Fund Assistance, DHCD Rehab Program, Baltimore Lead Hazard Control Program, or Healthy Homes for Healthy Kids.

To determine whether your home may be weatherization-ready, please ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does my home have high energy usage?
  • Are my appliances more than ten years old?
  • Are my appliances not Energy Star rated?
  • Are my heating & cooling units in constant need of repair or have I been told they need to be replaced?
  • Does it feel like my heating or cooling units work overtime and my home still doesn’t feel warm or cool?
  • I have never added more insulation to my attic or basement?
  • Can I make all areas of my home accessible for workers? (Attic, basement, bathrooms, etc.)
  • Am I able to contain any pets while work happens?

If you answered “YES” to one or more of these questions, then you may benefit from having an energy assessment of your home completed.
