ELECTRIFICATION UPGRADES

Home electrification replaces oil or propane powered systems with electric ones. This often includes high-efficiency heat pumps and electric appliances.

Electrification helps households reduce their reliance on fossil fuels while improving indoor comfort and safety. Many home electrification companies support this transition by helping households switch to efficient electric systems.

Electrification upgrades through CAC depend on your home’s needs and program eligibility, but can include:

  • Electric heat pump installation
  • Heat pump water heater installation
  • Oil or propane tank removal, including underground tanks
  • Electrical panel upgrades to support new equipment

The services you may be eligible for depend on your home, the results of your assessment, and current program funding availability.

Electrification works especially well when paired with solar energy. CAC also helps eligible households with no cost solar panel installation.

Solar panels turn sunlight into electricity that can power your home’s electric systems and appliances. The more your home runs on electricity, the more you can benefit from solar! Many households choose electrification upgrades so they can get more value from solar energy.

Solar systems last for decades, helping households save money year after year.

Maryland residents may also earn Solar Renewable Energy Credits, known as SRECs. You earn SRECs based on how much electricity your solar panels produce. These credits can be sold for extra income, often earning several hundred dollars per year.
