To resolve these issues, the Community Action Council of Howard County provides no-cost weatherization to income-qualified households. Through our simple five-step process, you can make your home healthier, safer, more comfortable, and more energy efficient. Here’s what you can expect.
What is Weatherization?
Weatherization is a group of services that improve the energy efficiency, comfort, and safety of homes. They help Maryland families waste less energy, which helps them save money. CAC’s home weatherization assistance program can provide the following at no cost:
- Upgraded Insulation: Improving insulation in important places like the attic and basement.
- Air Sealing: Closing air leaks in the home that waste heat and air conditioning.
- Heating and Cooling Upgrades: Replacing or repairing outdated HVAC equipment.
- New Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors: To help improve safety within the home.
- LED Light Bulbs: Replacing incandescent light bulbs with LEDs that use 75% less energy.
- Water Heater Upgrades: Repairing water heaters that have broken or replacing them with an efficient unit.
